Farah Maalim Mohamed (Somali: Faarax Maaliim Maxamed, Arabic: فرح معلم محمد) is a renowned ethnic Somali politician[1] with almost two decades of experience on the Kenyan political scene. He is the current Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Kenya.
Maalim belongs to the Awlyahan sub-clan of the Ogaden Darod Somali clan. He was educated at Maseno School.[2] He is a member of the Orange Democratic Movement political party in Kenya, and was elected to represent the Lagdera Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya since the Kenyan parliamentary election, 2007.[3] This is his second stint in the Kenyan Parliament, his first being the 7th Kenyan Parliament.
